Witch Lights
Watercolor paint, watercolor pencil, white gouache, and Micron pen on watercolor paper
2015
I love Halloween! It's unquestionably my very favorite holiday. But I think witches have been misrepresented in all the Halloween decor. After all, they run the gamut from kind to cruel. So here's a kind one, lighting the way for everyone.

Duality

I have friends from just about every major religion, and even a couple minor ones as well. Sometimes there's major disagreements about philosophy, but in reality, a lot of them share the more basic common tenets. The phrase "One person's mythology is another's theology" was said by a good friend several years ago, and the idea stuck in my head. Personally, I'd like it much better if we all just got along.

Woodwitch: Autumn

This is a little piece, heavily inspired by my love for all things autumn. I really should create one for each season! This is actually a very small piece, measuring only 6"x8".

Witches Three
Watercolor paint, watercolor pencil, white gouache, India ink, and metallic gel pen on Bristol
2008
An older piece, but I still love it! This took me forever. The witches' hats were inspired by a trip to Salem, MA in October. There was a store that carried all the beautiful, decorative witches' hats made from lace and velvet, with flowers, leaves, and feathers all over them.
I enjoy doing a trio of ladies. I may have to bring these three ladies back again sometime.

Angel of Hope

This one was created for a good friend whose mother was suffering from cancer. Lavender is the color for all cancers but the gems she's carrying are for breast, esophageal, lung, and brain to honor the people I've known who have been diagnosed and fought the disease. There's a lot of purple in there, as purple also covers all cancer survivors. It will be a wonderful day indeed, when researchers finally crack the code and a real cure is discovered.
